Aging is inevitable but deteriorating is not” – these words are from Linda Nofer, owner of Barfitness in Scottsdale. I couldn’t agree with her more… and if you want proof, Linda is it! A competitive gymnast growing up, Linda went on to teach aerobics and spinning before becoming master-certified at ballet bar instruction by Jill Dailey McIntosh, creator of “The Dailey Method.”  The 43-year-old now owns Barfitness where she regularly whips booties (and beyond) into shape through isometric exercises (small movements, major muscle burn!). Here Linda shares her Hot Body Secrets…

How to find a workout you love…
Shopping for an exercise program that fits your wants and needs is like shopping for anything: if you don’t find the right one at first, keep looking. There’s a fitness regime out there for everyone, no matter your age, shape, size or fitness level. Pick one that works for you, where you see results sooner rather than later. It should be fun and enjoyable, or you more than likely won’t stick with it – and it should be affordable.

How to eat healthy…
If you eat what you want in moderation, you are far more likely to stay at a stabilized weight, rather than yoyo dieting. Eating healthy has to be part of your lifestyle, so avoid the foods that make you feel badly, but treat yourself once a week so you feel satisfied and not deprived.

How to avoid overeating…
I stay away from buffets and brunches. Ordering more food than you want or need can result in overeating. Portion size is key, but don’t starve yourself during the day or it’s too easy to pig out at night. Also, healthy snacking throughout the day is okay: stay satisfied so you’re not tempted to binge.

How to tame trouble spots…
We all have them. The best exercise programs will teach you how to isolate your trouble spots, such as your hips, thighs and/or your seat so you can focus on the proper work to transform them. Keep in mind genetics come into play too; bodies come in different shapes naturally. It is possible, though, to sculpt the perfect you, you just need the correct tools.

How to stay motivated…
Feeling good, for me anyway, is the biggest motivation. When I like the way I look it motivates me to stay that way. It’s normal to experience modest weight fluctuation (up/down a few pounds depending on the time of month), but it’s best to stay within your healthy range so you avoid feeling sluggish and unmotivated.
