Felicia Romero isn’t just a gorgeous face and body. The Arizona native grew up playing sports (you name it, she played it), graduated from ASU with a degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Exercise and Wellness, and opened her first exercise studio when she was just 20 years old. On the fitness front, the 31-year-old IFBB pro has won 5 pro shows – and she placed Top 5 in the world at the 2010 Ms. Figure Olympia. She’s also a cover model and motivational speaker who trains other to help them achieve their fitness goals. “My passion is fitness and helping people is what drives and inspires me!” Here, Felicia spills on all her hot body secrets…

How to find a workout you love… Well, I always try to find something I know will be challenging and I’m a little nervous to try. Bikram yoga was my “step out of my comfort zone” workout. I’m not flexible and the thought of being in that heat made me nervous, but now it’s my favorite type of workout!

How to eat healthy… I eat healthy by always being prepared and making healthy, conscious choices. I’m so in tune with my body, I know what makes me feel energetic and active, and I know what can make me feel sluggish and tired. Food is naturally healing so I recognize that and treat my body with the utmost respect – by fueling it with good, nutritious foods!

Starting a program isn’t tough, but staying motivated and on track is tough

How to avoid overeating… For me, this is a tough one because it can easily happen! The trick for me is to not even take that first bite! If it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind. I also remind myself the way I feel when I overeat, and the less I do it, the better I feel. But you also must realize that you can’t be perfect and don’t beat yourself up when you do indulge.

How to tame trouble spots… Taming the trouble spots is a question I get so much! For me, I know that I can’t spot reduce, but I can focus on those areas that need improving. For my tummy, I try to stay bloat-free by drinking a lot of water (I try to put lemon in my water, that helps) and staying away from foods that affect my stomach, like sugary and highly processed foods. For my glutes and that oh-so-stubborn area behind my legs, I do weight lifting exercises (deadlifts and reverse lunges focusing on the glute); and when I do cardio, I focus on using those areas. And remember: How you look is 80% nutrition.

How to stay motivated… Starting a program isn’t tough, but staying motivated and on track is tough. I love the way I feel when I’m on track; and I must remind myself that I feel crappy when I’m off. My goals are so much more powerful then the one-time satisfaction from a cookie. I know my body will be efficient if I’m efficient… the mind must be right before the body can be.
