What does “power” mean to you?
To me the word ‘power’ is more about having influence over something rather than control. For example, I like the fact that we are having a positive influence on our guests’ overall health because of the nutritional food we offer at True Food Kitchen.
What impact do you strive to have on the Valley?
We hope we have had a very positive impact here in the Valley. We create great environments and unique quality menus, we really work hard at providing a great service experience and we hope that our guests walk away feeling good about the time and money they spent with us.
What has made you successful?
I am pretty tenacious and I don’t believe in settling. I think we can always improve each and every day.
What is one tip that everyone can use to become successful?
I learn a lot from the success of others. But I also learn a lot from other people’s mistakes.
How do you face challenges such as the recession?
It’s all about the details. We work harder than we ever did before. We work smarter. And we really pay attention to every aspect of the business—no matter how insignificant it might seem.
Why do you choose to live in Arizona?
I have deep family roots here in Arizona. This state has provided great opportunities for the organization. I am proud of the fact that we have become a major employer in Scottsdale and Tucson. And I feel good about being able to give back to the communities that have helped us become successful.
What one superpower would you like to possess?
The power to feed every hungry child in the world.
