‘Tis the swanky season for men.  Yep, autumn 2011 is all about elegant, dress-to-impress fashion for guys and we’re giving you a sneak peak at what high-end designers are featuring for our male counterparts.

According to the trendy Dolce & Gabanna team, men are encouraged to take some ritzy risks this fall, whether flaunting a fantastic sportscoat or rocking a double-breasted suit; 2011’s new 3-piece.   Here are the manly must-have items (and fashion tips) for fall.

A friend once told me the first thing she looks at is a guy’s feet—not just for size, but for his shoe of choice.  That’s why we’re kicking things off at the shoe, and this season is all about wingtips.   The chunkier, thicker-soled shoe is more hefty than the typical slim Italian loafer, but it still has that traditional physique.  Try a substantial, pebble-grain, medium-to-chocolate brown wingtip; the more classic the profile of the shoe, the better.

And speaking feet, this season your sweetheart will want to pay close attention to detail; not only should he pair his socks with his shoes, he should also consider the relationship between his shoes to his pants.  It’s suggested guys cuff the pant to give it a little weight; that, according to the brand Bottega Venata.

And when things get a little chilly, go for some camel-colored warmth. While there’s nothing like classic black, this autumn is calling for a little camel.  Slim, youthful camel coats are quite cool, but you’ll feel quite cozy snuggling up to your man’s cashmere (or wool) coat.  He can pair this item over a pinstriped suit, or with a simple polo.

But if he prefers something a little more savvy, think tweed.  Last year’s tweed jacket was much more refined—most were solid beige and charcoal.  However, this season we’re getting some international inspiration, seeing more pin-striped, plaid, and colorful tweeds.

Ok, here’s a trend tough to fathom for men living in the Valley of the Sun: turtle necks.  I know all this talk of warm clothing is making you sweat in our triple degree heat, but I’m just telling it like it is.  Designers like Margiela, Hermes, Gucci, and Calvin Klein are pairing turtles with just about everything, and they’re showcasing an assortment of colors.  Yep, forget black—we’re seeing gray, blue, and jewel-toned turtles; being not-so-bulky, the style is actually quite thinning.
