It's a book bound to make your mouth water while mending your broken heart.  Meet the Valley author offering her culinary cures to getting over your former bad boy...

How often has food become your fateful BFF?  Yes, we’ve all been there—alone after a bad break-up, armed with a gallon of Cookies & Cream, wallowing in lonesome sorrow; yet savoring every comforting bite.

It’s that common instance that sparked the Valley’s Sonya Zepeda to write a savory sob story—but this one, with a happy ending.

The 30-something single lady was going through a rough divorce, experiencing the motions of moving on.  However, throughout her emotional recovery, the now independent woman cooked her way through her misery, creating dishes sparked by her gypsy background.

Yep, the Valley vixen has traveled the world, taste-testing at exotic eateries.  She picked up quite the culinary skill, and soon sought haven in her very own kitchen.  That’s because Zepeda found the art of cooking therapeutic, helping cure her broken heart.

“Most of us can agree the collapse of a relationship pretty much sucks, but you can recover!  That’s why I wrote my book—I want to help women once like myself,” said Sonya Zepeda, self-proclaimed food critic and chef extraordinaire.

Introducing the must-read for any newly lonely lady: “Screw the Skinny Bitches…I want to Eat.  A Good Girls’ Recipe Guide to a Bad Boy Break Up.”  And the name says it all.  The entertaining; yet, educational, inspirational, and healing cook-book combines break-up survival tips with an array of recovery-based recipes.

“It teaches you how to make a variety of meals, from I Thought I was the Apply of his Eye Apple Pie, to I am Having a Meltdown Meat Loaf, to Bring Your Sexy Back Beef Kabobs,” she said.

All 51 dishes are equipped with a fitting name, and Zepeda even includes savvy sippers sure to sooth your pain.

“You’ll definitely want to try the Man Hating Mai Tai.

But the book does more than get your buzz on.  The easy read is broken into four sections: The Break Up; I was Too Good for You Anyway; Fun, Fit & Fabulous; and Better than Ever.  All four portions include related recipes, in addition to a page-long summary describing how Zepeda endured each phase of her break-up.

“All of a sudden I was suddenly single at 34 years old; however, I realized recovery was a process, and thanks to food, family, and friends, I survived.”

In the book, you’ll also learn about Zepeda’s “Psycho Chick Anonymous,” her 12-steps to getting over a break-up.  In addition, each of the four phases includes movie recommendations fit for any savvy single on the rebound.  Plus, Zepeda offers confidence-boosting tips helping you get back in the game, like joining a book club, treating yourself to a day of pampering, and training for a triathlon.

“I joined a cigar bar and it was nothing but men, men, and more men.  They were more than happy to have a girl in their clubhouse.”

So indulge in your sorrow and screw the skinny bitches…and the bad boys along with them.  Cheers to new beginnings, as you toast over Zepeda’s Bangin’ Bahama Mamas
