On Monday, August 27th, 2012, football fans, local celebrities and media all gathered at Morton's Steakhouse in Scottsdale for the 4th Annual "Celebrity Servers featuring Larry Fitzgerald & Friends" charity event.  It was a great evening filled with laughter, fun, and of course, fantastic food.

Benefitting Larry Fitzgerald's First Down Fund, not only was it your typical charity event with a silent auction, live auction, as well as getting the chance to talk to and have your photo taken with #11 himself, but it was unique in that the players were also serving the tables.  The atmosphere was relaxed and fun - definitely not a stuffy event by any means!

The event was also a chance for just a few of the Arizona Charities Larry's First Down Fund supports to thank him and show their gratitude.  Lydia Bautista, with Phoenix Children's Hospital, presented Mr. Fitzgerald with artwork from a child who was visited while in the hospital by Larry - what a sweet thank you!  We also heard from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix, and the American Cancer Society.  It was touching to hear how The First Down Fund has helped so many people throughout not only Arizona but across the world.  It's no wonder that Larry Fitzgerald recently won the Arthur S. Arkush Humanitarian Award from the NFL - he really, really cares about helping people.

Coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Ken Whisenhunt, was one of the celebrity servers, as well as Kurt Warner, Darnell Dockett, and countless others.

Lindsey Berg, recent silver medal winner in London for women's volleyball, was also there to help serve.  She told me that she and Larry were old friends - and how fantastic was it to have her there - she was very sweet and let people hold - even wear - her medal for photos!

This was absolutely an event that attracts a lot of local celebrities - twitterer extradionare Johnjay Van Es attended, too.

The evening ended with a fantastic live auction with simply amazing items - dinner with Larry Fitzgerald, a Luxury Safari to Kenya - all the money raised goes to the First Down Fund.

If you couldn't make it but still want to donate, you can donate online via the First Down Fund website.
