Unless you’ve been listening to your old N’Sync CD on repeat for the past couple of months you may have not noticed the phenomenon that has been happening just outside your music bubble. Take out your CD’s and unplug your un-updated ipods and listen to what all the buzz is about.

As far as tween girls are concerned, One Direction is pretty much the hottest thing out there. I’m using “hot” very loosely.

On Sunday, Comerica Theatre was exposed to piercing screams, DIY shirts and witty signs as early as 4 a.m. Teen fangirls aligned themselves outside the theater and surrounding areas alike just to get a glimpse of the British-Irish boy band that has certainly swept the states and left fangirls with no chance to deny their excellence in harmony and beauty alike.

Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik performed for the first time on Phoenix last night. Not only have they left a mark on our city, but the boys certainly made it clear that the city has left a mark on them.

“How many of you were outside all day today?” Harry Styles of One Direction asked fans during the concert. As the girls replied in more screams and hand raises, Styles laughed to himself and continued saying, “that’s how many sweaty and smelly people are in here right now,” he finished.

Liam Payne also shared his views, “There’s two things today that I’ve learned about Phoenix. Number one, it is very, very, very hot! Number two, you’re all amazing.”

As the familiar tunes and harmonies flooded the hot, tight and over-crowded theater, girls everywhere yelled over the music saying similar things such as, “Oh my God! Did you see that! He looked and waived right at me!” And that seemed to be just enough satisfaction to let them sleep happily that night. With no-doubt filling the next morning with more stories that happened the night before.

Most “Directioners” know their debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful,” however, some don’t know the song also won the boys The 2012 Brit Award, beating Adele and many other top artists.

Another boy band you ask? These boys just may be the biggest thing since The Beatles.
