This summer is going to the dogs! Yes, it’s that time of the year for one of our favorite (and cutest!) contests: Dog Days of Summer 2011.

One of the best parts of this contest is sorting through all of the entries, and we’ve already seen a ton of lovable pups and pooches. But, don’t be alarmed—we are accepting entries until August 1, 11:59:59 A.M.

Although there’s still over a month to enter, we’re already ready to burst from the adorable photos that dog lovers around the Valley have e-mailed to us in hopes of having their canine win the title of AZFoothills.com's "Dog of the Year" for 2011.

Last year, Jack, a two year-old Dachshound from Phoenix, Arizona, took home the Top Dog title with an amazing 127, 127 votes!

Because of how much our hearts have been stolen by some pretty precious pups, we’ve decided to give you all a sneak peek! Be prepared to let out some awww’s and squeal in the cuteness.

See what we mean? Do you think your doggie has what it takes to woo all of Arizona? Enter today by e-mail or attend a casting call (July 30 at Desert Ridge Marketplace and July 31 at Tempe Marketplace). Once all of the entries are in on August 1, AZFoothills.com readers will vote online to choose the top five pooches who will move on to round two of the contest. Then, the winner will be chosen by a panel of judges, soon to be announced.

This special dog will receive tons of treats and doggie toys, and even be featured in Arizona Foothills Magazine in 2012! As “Dog of the Year,” other opportunities will open up, allowing it to fulfill the role of “Arizona’s Favorite Dog.”
