Creating a unique place setting for your wedding can be an overwhelming process.
According to Amy Petrovsky of Sensational Events, the key to creating a unique place
setting without going over-the-top is to incorporate unique elements while keeping
everything simple. Focus on just a few major pieces and try to avoid doing everything
you see in a wedding magazine. “Simple is better. Simple is more elegant…Do one style
versus all the styles so it is more cost effective. One style will have more depth to it than
if there were several things.”

“First your guests are greeted with an invitation, which should be your red carpet
piece for what is best yet to come,” Kim McDowell of the Event Essentials said in an
interview on Petrovsky’s Web site, SensationalEvents.com. “Then they walk into your
event and have a first initial ‘wow’ factor. From then on, it’s the small details that they
will begin to pay attention to as the night progresses.”

Having a theme can be helpful when putting together a beautiful place setting.
Whether it’s a color theme like ivory and gold or a fun theme like Moroccan, you have to
play around with different elements. “Every different element brings different flavor to
the food and how the food looks on it,” Petrovsky said. Introduce the theme through the
invitations and carry it through the place settings.

According to McDowell, it’s important to put your stunning details where the
most pictures will be taken and where guests will spend the most time. “That way you
will see them for years to come and they won’t go unnoticed. For example, if you design
a nice monogram aisle runner for your ceremony, make sure the monogram is at the head
of the aisle where you unite your vows and take pictures with the family after the
ceremony.”

No matter what the theme of the big day is, it’s important to remember to keep
the details simple and elegant in order not to overwhelm your guests and to enjoy your
day as much as possible.
