Arizona Humane Society’s 13th Annual Compassion with Fashion, The Wizard of Pawz: There’s No Place like Home event, was truly a magical day.

From the hilarious costume fashion show, to the celebration of Louie’s triumph over abuse, to the fabulously chic, yet affordable runway fashions, everyone’s compassionate spirit and joy of pets was evident throughout the day.

The community’s unfailing support and extraordinary generosity raised over $300,000 net for the animals in AHS’ care; at an average cost of $250 to shelter an animal, and pet homelessness rapidly increasing, those funds will help care for over 1,200 animals! The astounding $66,000 that was generated through AHS’ Circle of Friends Program will help combat pet overpopulation through subsidized spay and neuter surgeries.

While absolutely inspiring, the most heart-warming event was yet to come as the 24 animals who found their forever homes pranced out the door and into the hearts of those who adopted them. Dorothy was right; there really is no place like home.
