2015, the adventure that it has been thus far, hasn’t only been a bright and busy start-of-the-year. It’s been entirely basking in the glow of the highly anticipated high profile event calendar that Arizona held. Kicking off that beam, The 2015 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction that was unquestionably the biggest auction in history, reaching historic heights in giving both from sponsors and to beneficiaries.

Barrett-Jackson’s strong commitment to philanthropy has resulted in just over $83 million raised over the years, the majority of which was brought in through the auction of cars for charity. Uniquely, 100% percent of the hammer price at each auction goes directly to the chosen beneficiaries.

This year alone, more than $8.6 million was raised for local and national charitable organizations during the 2015 Scottsdale Auction alone. Celebrities, pro athletes and business leaders, including Hollywood actress Sharon Stone, NASCAR legends Jeff Gordon and Ray Evernham, and two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson brought their star power to help raise millions for U.S. veterans, children, cancer patients and others across the country.

Among the most electrifying moments of the auction was the sale of a 1950 General Motors Parade of Progress Futurliner Tour Bus. A U.S. Marine Color Guard stood proudly onstage surrounded by members of the military as the huge vehicle slowly rumbled onto the auction stage, with a capacity crowd cheering and waving American flags.

The big moment? The hammer went down on a $4 million bid, all to benefit the Armed Forces Foundation, but the emotional moment didn’t stop there. Several generous Barrett-Jackson customers, pledged an additional $600,000.

Barrett-Jackson’s 45th Anniversary Scottsdale auction will be held at WestWorld of Scottsdale, January 24-31, 2016.
