EXTRA EXTRA!

alt In only two months, the ten year anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack that occurred on September 11th, 2001 takes place. To remember one of the defining moments in this country's history, Valley-based Stingray Sushi debuted their new "9/11 Remembrance Roll". To help with their recognizable charitable work, half of the proceeds will be donated to the Scottsdale and Phoenix's Firefighter's Association for the next two months, including the day of September 11th.

This sushi restaurant has locations in Old Town Scottsdale, Biltmore Fashion Park, and at Scottsdale Quarter. All of these locations will be honoring those who fought and those who lost their loved ones from the horrifying tragedy.

Chef Andrew Nam has created a roll in the shape of an artistic flower to represent the lost family members and citizens from that day. The roll concludes of spicy crab, asparagus and avocado sushi that will be topped with tuna, halibut and spicy scallions. Small American flags will also be added to the presentation.

“’Roll’ is an item on any sushi menu but  in the case of this remembrance it also was the heart of a now famous phrase used by Todd Beamer as he rushed the cockpit on Flight 93 to foil another airline strike on an American institution. We hope as many people as possible will do as he said that day: ‘Let’s roll.’ Sales will benefit terrific causes and is one small way we can say never forget ten years later,” Greg Donnally says, owner of Stingray Sushi.

“Our bond with communities was never stronger after 9/11. We have tried to continue that spirit ever since. Part of those efforts involves our pro-active charitable endeavors. These proceeds from Stingray will be very helpful, as will the awareness they are raising,” Aren Hansen says, President of the Scottsdale Firefighter’s Association.

“Fateful. Frightening. Unforgettable. That’s what 9/11 was for every firefighter. We sincerely appreciate a local company like Stingray Sushi remembering the sacrifices of that day in a way that will help other lives in the future,” Pete Gorraiz says, President of the United Phoenix Firefighter’s Association.
