What to Wear to Any Kind of Thanksgiving Function

by Ashley Beth Santos

Gobble Season is here which means “yesss, gimme all the Thanksgiving food” and “nooo, my clothes are about to feel a little tighter”. We get it, having to discreetly unbutton those skinny jeans at the dinner table after round two in an effort to still savor some pumpkin pie is less than ideal. We’re here to save the day with some comfy and stylish outfits to fit in all the good calories this Thanksgiving.

For the Formal Family

A loose power suit is perfect for a formal family occasion. So chic yet so comfy. Pair a sweet sweater under the blazer and take it off if you want to let loose a little at the dinner table. Finish the look with a block heel boot or some flattering flats.

With the Casual Crew

Keep it chill with a cool crewneck, oversized corduroy jacket and stretchy jeggings paired with some Doc Martins. The ultimate cool meets comfy look for a more casual Thanksgiving gathering.

Fun at Friendsgiving

Keep it fresh for a Friendsgiving get together in some streetwear-inspired jogger pants with a french tucked oversized or flowy top and leather jacket on top. Want to dress it up a bit? Add some delicate gold jewelry and opt for a mule instead of a sneaker.

Doing Dinner Out

If your Thanksgiving plans include ditching time in the kitchen for a full-service meal go for a button-up shirt dress with an oversized blazer, knee-high boots and little black clutch. The perfect mix of refined meets rock and roll meet relaxed for a restaurant outing.

First Time Meeting the Fam

First impressions are everything when meeting the bf’s fam for the first time at Thanksgiving…meaning don’t scare off the ‘rents with any wild looks. Make a good one in a conservatively chic turtleneck dress paired with some leather ankle booties. Throw a silky slip dress on top of a turtleneck for another trendy yet still traditional enough Thanksgiving ensemble.

Holiday Volunteering

Spending Thanksgiving spreading good cheer at the local soup kitchen? Good on you! Go low key in a soft but stylish sweatsuit set. Go for Autumn inspired colors to keep it festive while you lend a philanthropic helping hand.
