City you live in: Phoenix
A typical day in my life includes… My mornings consist of reading emails, drinking espresso, and going to the gym with my wife before she heads off to her salon for a busy day of work. I drink more espresso, listen to a podcast, then I’m off to one of the restaurants to repair something or meet my business partner Nick Campisano, and/or managers to discuss all things Born & Raised Hospitality.
I was born… North Central Phoenix
My favorite thing about Arizona… The diverse and amazingly beautiful landscapes. Also, the weather October through May. My wife and I like to spend time up north during the summer months.
I’m listening to… 90% of what I listen to is podcasts throughout the day. When I’m listening to music, I really enjoy lo-fi if I’m working on my laptop, and usually Trojan Records Reggae if I’m being more active.
My family… Always supports me, keeps me grounded and level headed, and inspires me to be better than I was yesterday.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Lex Fridman or Eric Weinstein (preferably both together).
One thing I cannot live without… My bulldog
When I was younger, I wanted to be… I watched Magnum P.I. everyday growing up and loved me some Tom Selleck. The allure of being a private eye was too tempting for me to overcome.
I’m inspired by… Thoughtful and interesting people.
The one person who motivates me is… My wife.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be… Our inability to have meaningful conversations.
The perfect day would be… Fly Fishing with my friends and family.
My first job was… Business Sales Associate at Comp USA in Metro Center.
My favorite escape… The beach. Any beach.
My life… Is incredibly blessed with amazing people.
I’m currently working on… Killer travel trailer mods, and our newest concept, Clever Ramen opening late Summer of 2021.

Native to North Central Phoenix, James was compelled by an opportunity to be creative during his tenure with Karl Kopp at AZ/88. While mastering the art of the classic cocktail he understood that restaurants were more than just a place to grab a quick bite – they were an opportunity to engage. As bar manager of The Parlor Pizzeria, James had built one of the most innovative beverage programs in Phoenix – a place where food and drink co-exist in unison and harmony.
