A typical day in my life includes…

COFFEE! But, I hold off on my first cup until three hours after I’ve risen for the day. Apparently it’s better for your cortisol cycle or something, who knew? My day goes a little something like this: 5:00 am – pop out of bed, “Good morning Phoenix!,” hydrate, read, eat, meditate (I can’t do this on an empty stomach, all I think about is food), emails, gym, Instagram story, real estate stuff, Amazon stuff (more on this later), more real estate stuff, visit my sister and spend my nephew Freedom Jr. (not his actual name, but that’s what I call him) bookkeeping (gross but necessary), more emails, social media stuff, chat with best friend (non-work related banter), shower, shave, read, hit the pillow HARD, intermission – “Good morning Phoenix!”

I was born…

on another planet… my parents tell me I was born in Palm Springs, California but I’m not buying it.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

I’d hate to be cliche and say the sunsets, even though they are divine… instead, I’ll go with the economic structure. As a business owner and entrepreneur (which is just a fancy way of saying I couldn’t pick just one thing I wanted to be good at) it is an immense benefit to live in a state that has a tax structure, and legislation in place that encourages private enterprise.

 I’m listening to…

“Smooth Jazz Spa Day” according to Alexa… I asked for Helen Jane Long, but I can get behind this! I’m bobbing my head from side to side as we speaak… ah, see that typo right there? That was from the head-bobbing 😉

My family…

is the main reason I am where I am in life, and why I was able to muster up the courage to jump headlong into two new business ventures simultaneously in completely new and separate industries from what I left behind. It’s a pretty big jump from the fashion industry to real estate. I also run an Amazon business on the side. Thankfully, I have some other good people (not blood-related) helping me with that endeavor.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

my late uncle on my father’s side. He passed away when I was around three years old. If our connection was anything like how I am with my nephew, I’d like to experience that if even for just one meal.

One thing I cannot live without…

dress boots. They are the perfect balance of class and function. Like Goldilocks and her porridge, not too underdressed and not so uncomfortable you end up getting a taste of what it’s like to wear stilettos. Although I’m sure that still pales in comparison to what you ladies must endure. I’ve got to hand it to you, bravo.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a Volcanologist, then a Navy Seal, then a Rock Star, then a DJ, (which is more or less the same thing) then a fashion designer. Truth be told I still want to be a rock star… I still get down to Led Zeppelin and Motley Crue every now and then. I guess you could say my tastes are varied.

I’m inspired by…

driven people, who are amazing at what they do, but have an incredible character to complement their talents. It’s one thing to strive for success and achieve it. It’s quite another to experience success and remain humble.

The one person who motivates me is…

my mother. I know people say that a lot, but this woman is truly one impressive human being, with the kindest heart. She showed me a better way live, and the true meaning of the golden rule. My father may have taught me the ways of tenacity and ambition, but it was my mother who showed me patience and empathy.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

Phoenix drivers, I seriously don’t understand… and I lived in Downtown Los Angeles for seven years.

The perfect day would be…

One where I was able to make a positive impact on someone else’s life, where I got to see the people who make life worth living. French toast and a coconut latte for breakfast, sushi for lunch, and a bone-In filet mignon paired with a glass of Malbec for dinner. Oh and puppies, lots and lots of puppies!

My first job was…

A professional boy, everything from playing in a puddle of mud and tracking the mess into the house to my mother’s horror to making homemade fireworks to the dismay of my father. I also worked as a sales associate at Geoffrey Beene. Remember that dude? I won’t chastise you if you didn’t. If you’re a Gen Z’er… please disregard.

My favorite escape

hiking in Sedona. I had the great privilege of growing up there… I know! I grew up in Sedona from the age of five. If I had a penny for every eyebrow that was raised upon me sharing that tidbit of information I’d live in Silverleaf already.

My life…

is Forest Gump minus the running.

I’m currently working on…

my character.

Always…

say thank you, pull out the chair, hold the door open, do your best, be impeccable with your word, do it now, dance, sing, be yourself, reach for the impossible, hold yourself accountable, do the moonwalk when you accomplish a goal, kiss your mother, say I love you, twerk like Beyoncé, carol like Sinatra, live a life of fulfillment and joy, appreciate where you came from, and look forward to where you’re going.

Never…

take things personally, be rude, own a car with black leather seats in Phoenix, assume, pity yourself, back out on your commitments because you found a “better” alternative, put oatmeal in the coffee maker (I actually did that one morning on accident, not how you make an oat milk latte), wear a checkered dress shirt with a pinstripe suit, wait until your ready.

Favorite Quote

When your skillset doesn’t cut it, trust in your character.”

Biggest Dream…

I once dreamt I was as tall as the empire state building… that was pretty big.

My Pet Peeve(s)

spilling coffee or soy sauce on your finely pressed shirt, kicking the side of your bed frame with my last name, the IRS, that mildew smell when you’ve left your clothes in the washer too long and didn’t notice until you’ve left the house for the day… did I mention Phoenix drivers?
