Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations (SLE), Disco Donnie Presents, and Evening Entertainment Group bring multi-genre producer and DJ, Mat Zo, on January 12 to Axis Radius, located at 7340 East Indian Plaza Scottsdale, Ariz. Doors open at 10 p.m. and the event is 21 years and over.
London-born Matan Zohar, better known as Mat Zo, was raised in an artistically gifted family. His mother was a professional violinist and carefully nurtured his early interest in music and his father was a successful painter, Israel Zohar. At the tender age of eight, Zo began to teach himself to play guitar. At age 11, Zo was in London pursuing his musical interests as a drummer and bassist in a jazz and rock band. His musical inclination shifted to electronic dance music (EDM) afterbecoming more interested in acts such as Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers.
By age 16, Zo’s tracks had already gained attention and playtime from well-known DJs Markus Schultz and Jav D, among others. Zo became a household name after he was hired by Tiesto to remix “Driving to Heaven,” which appeared on his internationally recognized “In Search of Sunrise 7” CD compilation. Zo was described by artists Above & Beyond, Lange, and Daniel Kandi as a promising producer in the 2009 issue ofDJ Magazine’s Top 100 poll. In the 2010 issue, Zo was a new entry at No. 66. His extended play (EP) “The Bipolar” gained support from DJs as diverse as Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and Roger Sanchez. His collaboration with well-known DJ Porter Robinson, “Easy” took the No. 1 spot on the 2012 Beatport Top 10 chart.
Mat Zo’s talent to produce tracks from a wide range of genres from drum and bass, to trance and progressive house has set him apart from most other DJs. His tracks have made it to the sets of DJs Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia and Above & Beyond. His success has taken him around the globe, playing at some of the most prestigious stages, establishing him as a force in the EDM scene.
