The Orchestra is celebrating 58 years of entertaining Tucson through free concerts in the park. Each concert has a unique guest or theme and is sure to entertain the whole family. The May 19 concert features guest artist Crystal Stark, an award winning R&B, jazz, and pop singer who was an American Idol Finalist in season 5.

The May 26 concert will feature guest artists Son of Orpheus and Lindsey McHugh. They will perform “Pilgrims Chorus” from Tannhäuser, “Anvil Chorus” from II Trovatore, “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and more. Lindsey McHugh, a sophomore at the University of Arizona School of Music, will sing “Depuis le jour” and “II bacio,” (The Kiss).

The June 2 concert will feature Violinists George Blum and Jose Reyes. George Blum, a member of the Tucson Symphony since 1986, will play the concert on one of his own homemade violins. Jose Leonardi Reyes has served as a violinist in orchestras across the world. Together, they will perform a lively, energetic piece for the crowd.

Finally, the June 9 concert is the Spotlight on the Tucson Pops Orchestra concert. Audience favorites such as “Lady of Spain,” “Moon River,” Shostakovich’s “Waltz #2,” and more will be featured.

The concert series is sponsored by Long Companies, Rosemont Copper, the Friends of the Pops, and Tucson Parks and Recreation. The Music Under the Stars concert series is the perfect way to spend an evening with a date, friends, or the whole family. Grab a blanket or some picnic snacks and enjoy the show!
