Mid-century style and modern design meet in The Tower at Hotel Valley Ho, Downtown Scottsdale’s historic hideaway.

Originally opened in 1956 and re-opened in 2005 after an $80 million restoration, the hotel was sub-structured for a seven-story tower back in the 50s as part of plans for later expansion that were never executed under original ownership. During the rehabilitation of the hotel, the tower was built on top of the existing lobby and restaurant space, carrying out the original plans of architect Edward Varney. Scottsdale-based Allen+Philp Architects designed the structure, with interior design by local Cathy Hayes, AIA.

The Tower features one- and two-story condominiums — including a penthouse level — as well as a variety of light, bright rooms and suites. Accommodations include Tower Signature Guest Rooms, One- and Two-Bedroom Tower Suites, and the brand new Tower Loft Suite. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass and private balconies overlooking Camelback Mountain or the OH Pool and Downtown Scottsdale, and all suites include a full kitchen and living room.

The Tower Loft Suite, which opened spring 2011, offers the most exclusive accommodations in the hotel. Two levels are connected by a floating staircase, and an abundance of natural light is complemented by an open floor plan. Upstairs, the living room and complete kitchen (with service for 8) form a fun, modern space. There’s also a full bathroom with luxurious red flower amenities that feature the hotel’s signature scent. The lower level includes a spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed, work space, washer/dryer, and master bathroom with an oversized bathtub and separate glass tile shower, as well as a walk-in closet. Two balconies overlooking the OH Pool complete the suite. 1,335 square feet of indoor space and 212 square feet of sunny outdoor space offer lots of room to lounge.

For entertainment, there are 32” and 50” flat-screen HD televisions, and a DVD player/iPod hookup. The Tower Concierge can also arrange outings to great local restaurants, galleries, night clubs, and art galleries. Guests of the Loft Suite and Tower Suites can enjoy 24-hour room service, arrange for personal pantry shopping for DIY cooking, or have renowned Chef Charles Wiley prepare a meal right in their kitchen.

Seasonal American fare is offered in ZuZu indoors and on the patio, with handcrafted cocktails served in the ZuZu Lounge. Light bites and poolside drinks are offered at OH Pool Bar + Cabanas. At the Hotel Valley Ho Tower — an artful hotel within a hotel — style and comfort meet for an ideal resting place away from home.
