Kathy reports on the Phoenix Art Museum's exhibition of dazzling gowns from the Oscars and tells us who rubbed elbows at its party with Glenn Close!
If you missed the elegant $750 per person gala at the Phoenix Art Museum at which acclaimed actress Glenn Close was the guest of honor, you can still get “close” to her, so to speak. That’s because the museum’s “Hollywood Red Carpet” exhibition is through July 27 in the Ellman Fashion Design Gallery.
The exhibition features the much talked about gowns worn on the red carpet at the Academy Awards by Glenn Close, Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain and many other Oscar nominees. The dazzling gowns are juxtaposed with photos from the roles for which the actresses were nominated. It’s curated by Academy Award nominated costume designer Dr. Deborah Nadoolman Landis (pictured above with Glenn Close at the Phoenix gala) and Phoenix Art Museum’s Curator of Fashion Design Dennita Sewell. The exhibit is included in the museum’s price ($15 for adults) of general admission.
By the way, when Glenn Close walked the red carpet for the Phoenix Art Museum's “the pARTY”, she was joined by 600 guests in formal attire.
Event chair Erin Gogolak (pictured above husband John Gogolak and family) and her committee planned the soiree which boasted a gourmet dinner, dancing and an exclusive preview of the museum’s $1.5 million “Hollywood Costume” exhibit which closed on July 6.
Proceeds from “the pARTy” will be used to benefit the Museum’s exhibitions, continue educational outreach programs and further the museum’s mission to be a vibrant destination connecting people to great art from around the world.
That vibrant connection is reflected in the collaboration for example, between those such as Dennita Sewell and Deborah Nadoolman Landis, (pictured above with Glenn Close) or the blockbuster "Hollywood Costume" and Hollywood Red Carpet " exhibitions!
