Kathy's scoop on the  historical party for the Chicago Cubs - not in Chicago- but in Mesa, Arizona! 

It was a historical party for not only for those who fought to keep the Chicago Cubs from leaving Arizona for spring training and heading to Florida..but for all those who will have a chance to be a part of this Field of Dreams! 

With shovels designed like a baseball bat in hand-- the VIPs lined up to break ground on the exact spot where home plate will be for the $99 million Wrigley field type ball park in Mesa. Tom Ricketts whose family is the new owners of the Chicago Cubs was flanked by Jody Davis, Mesa Mayor Scott Smith , Bob Hunt, Marc Garcia and other influentials. 

Under a tent on the field - (with lots of huge fans blowing cool misting air by the way) the guests were treated to live music, continental breakfast, cracker jacks and nut snacks. 

 The crowd of Cactus League powerfuls and other Cub committed fans applauded the plans for the 15,000 seat spring training stadium (which was approved by taxpayers) Wrigleyville West which will also include a shopping and dining district. Can you say "economic impact?" Stay tuned.
