Kathy’s inside scoop on how Bret Michaels appearance rocked a Phoenix charity party.

Bret Michaels appearance at one of the Valley’s most popular black tie galas - “rocked” beyond singing, but simply posed for photos with guests. Could we say that  Bret Michaels attendance at the Promise Ball was good "POISON?" In this case, as in the case of Bret winning Celebrity Apprentice 3 - yes! Because Bret - the lead singer of the glam metal band Poison- (they have sold over 30 million records worldwide starting in the 80‘s) helped add $78,000 to the charity’s offers within less than 15 minutes!

Yes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Desert Southwest Chapter was “rocked” by the rock stars donation of a trip to one of his concerts on a private plane and back stage passes - and two signed guitars! (By the way.. Don't miss it.. Bret will be on the cover of the March issue of Arizona Foothills Magazine.)

The concert packages at this Promise Ball 2012 fetched $25,000 each in the live auction and the guitars sold twice for $14,000 each. Kudos to Bret Michaels because he not only attended the VIP reception - but posed for pics (taken by photographer Lauren Nicole) on a Harley Davidson with all of the 200 VIP guests. That was a long line.

Scott Whyte, Elise Whyte and their children (picutred above) spoke about living with Type 1 diabetes.

The affair chaired Susan Solliday and Nancy Petrenka who, along with Promise Ball director Tammy Crawford and their committee, are thankful for those who supported the dinner/dance at the luxurious Phoenician ballroom. As for Bret Michaels and his good "POISON" for the fancy fete - he has juvenile diabetes and this type of celebrity involvement is important to a charity, as it helps increase sponsorships and  donations and the success of a benefit. Congrat's to Bret who was presented with the organization's Tom Crawford Leadership Award. The award is named for Tammy Crawford's husband Tom, who pased away in 2006, in honor of his legacy.
