Ever since she was young, de Kerpley-Zak has studied painting but was not like any other student who followed rules and listened to stingy art teachers. She had her own vision. At the age of 13, she left Hungry during the time when the country was occupied by Russia in 1956 and ventured to Canada to continue her artistic ambitions.

De Kerpley-Zak specializes in Impressionist paintings where a majority of her work features a plethora of vibrant and lively flowers. She described the flowers as a representation of freedom and the cycle of life. With each brush strokes, she illustrates the serene and peaceful aesthetic of flowers while coalescing the spontaneous inspirational changes of light and color.

"I like how flowers in nature are like people," said de Kerpley-Zak. "They are all together like how people are all together and how they excel in life. I like that sort of correlation between flowers and people."

Others have described her artwork as healing but de Kerpley-Zak explained the meanings behind her paintings differ from person to person who view and interpret it.
