Pizza is one of our favorite foods as a family, and when we headed to Grimaldi's in Scottsdale, I knew we were in for a treat. Located right in the heart of Scottsdale, on 1st Avenue and Scottsdale Roads, it's a great location to visit after a day of shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square, perusing the many art galleries, or for lunch after hitting up the Scottsdale Farmer's Market.

The menu at Grimaldi's is simple - pick a pizza size, type (tomato, pesto, or white), and then add your toppings. They also offer calzones as well as salads. My favorite way to start is with the Antipasto - a plate of delicious fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, salami, green and kalamata olives, and fresh bread. I could honestly just eat this by itself - the mozzarella is so good!

We've visited twice, and the first time we ordered a traditional pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and olives. It was delicious, but greasy - I would recommend one meat, but not two. The next time we visited, we decided to try the pesto pizza with ham and fresh tomatoes. It was amazing, and the crust was crispy and delicious. Grimaldi's secret behind their authentic New York taste? They say it's in the water - they have special filters installed in their restaurants to make the water they use in the dough just like NYC water. Interesting!

Now, you cannot visit Grimaldi's without getting dessert. They have the usual offerings of tiramisu and cannoli's, but they also have CHEESECAKE. This is their current seasonal offering, the peanut butter cup. It was fantastic - the kids and I shared and it was the perfect ending to our meal!

Grimaldi's also offers many wine selections to pair with your pizza, and if you're more 'pizza and beer' person, they have several beers on tap, including two from Arizona's own San Tan Brewery.

Grimaldi's is making quite an impact in Arizona - along with their Old Town Scottsdale location, there are locations at Scottsdale Quarter, DC Ranch in Scottsdale, Gilbert, Casa Palmona in Chandler, The Falls at Ocotillo in Chandler, Gilbert, Peoria, and Tucson! I'm sure there's one near where you are, right now!
