Designer Zang Toi was born in Malaysia moved to Toronto at the early age of 18 and studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City. Toi has had a fantastic career, winning numerous awards like the Monsieur Style Awards: Best in Women's Wear and even was knighted by the Sultan of Kelantan in 1997. Toi has dressed ladies of celebrity including Sharon Stone, Ivanka Trump and Kirstie Alley. Toi’s appearance on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New York” launched him into a household name. The phrase “ambiguous royalty” comes to mind when reviewing the fall 2010 collection of House of Toi. Toi’s appreciation for the exquisite things in life is very apparent in this collection with decadent velvet in hues of purple and black. The fall collection could be labeled unresponsive in this less-than-glossy financial market, but I appreciate it. Nothing screams optimism like a fox fur-trimmed jacket in violet. This superglamorous line from House of Toi is absolutely fantastic, from the office to gala, there is something to wear.
