Take time to hike and explore the recently installed “Sonoran Seed Pods” created by Scottsdale artist Jeff Zischke commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art by the bequest of longtime arts patron and Scottsdale resident Mr. Frank Crerie.

This stunning series of a group of 8 sculptures is centered on the shapes of seeds and seed pods of the Sonoran Desert that are found in the park. The artist researched trees, shrubs, and wildflowers since there is a vast selection of vegetation found in the park including mesquite, creosote, brittlebush, and yucca. These sculptures where fabricated with corten steel and range in size from 3′ diameter to 8” diameter.

The striking sculptures are placed along the ¾ mile hiking trail that makes a loop through the east end of the park.  An entry marker, honoring the memory of Frank Crerie is located at the top of the nature trail.  They were installed this past September. Be sure to head to George Cavalliere Park and hike the beautiful Frank Crerie Nature Trail where art and nature converge, located at 27775 N. Alma School Pkwy, Scottsdale.
