Lock Up Your Love for Cystic Fibrosis

The newly popular and somewhat profound way of professing your undying love is in the form of a “love-lock.” Customarily, lovers engrave their names onto a padlock, lock it to a fence (usually on a bridge) and throw the key into the river below.


Love locks in Hungary

The love padlock takes its roots in the southern Hungarian city of Pécs in the 1980s, where lovers began to clamp padlocks to a wrought-iron fence as a symbol of their commitment to one another.

With a worldwide following, love padlocks have been affixed to the railing at the centre of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy, while star-struck sweethearts in Mount Huang, China “lock their souls” together and then throw the key over the edge of the cliff into the misty valleys below.

Love locks in Germany

At any Valley-wide Fascinations location, purchase a $5 “Love Lock” padlock, decorate and lock it to the special in store metal display as tribute to your beloved to benefit Cystic Fibrosis.

Love Locks will be displayed near the Scottsdale Center for the Arts “LOVE” statue.
