Voodoo Doughnut to Open First-Ever Arizona Location in Tempe

Arizonans no longer have to book a flight to enjoy a whimsical Voodoo-doll-shaped doughnut. The cult-following doughnut company announced the first-ever Arizona Voodoo Doughnut shop is set to open in Tempe later this year.

Voodoo Doughnut is famous for its 50 imaginative and decorative doughnuts. Each bakery handcrafts fresh yeast-raised, cake and vegan doughnuts daily. Voodoo Doughnut birthed the famous Bacon Maple Bar winning the title of America’s Greatest Doughnut in 2022. Topped with maple frosting and two slices of smoked bacon, the sweet and savory blend leaves customers craving the flavor-crushing combination.

Kenneth Pogson and Richard Shannon opened the first Voodoo Doughnut in downtown Portland 20 years ago. Within the first month of opening, the doughnut shop soared in popularity, gaining national media coverage. Since then, the company has appeared on the Cooking Channel, Good Morning America, The Today Show and more. Now, the 24/7 doughnut company operates 18 locations across six states.

“We’ve been exploring the Arizona market for a while as part of our continuous growth strategy, and we’re excited to finally bring our doughnuts to Tempe,” says Chris Chultz, Voodoo Doughnut CEO. “We can’t wait to become a part of the local community.”

The interior of the future Voodoo Doughnut Tempe storefront will have a similar atmosphere as the other 18 locations, featuring bright-colored walls and quirky decor. The future Tempe location will be hard to miss with its pink-painted exterior matching the brand’s iconic doughnut boxes.

Voodoo Doughnut Tempe will be located on 1324 S. Rural Road. A Voodoo Doughnut representative said the new Tempe store “is set to open later this year,” but an official opening date is yet to be confirmed.
