Apple recently announced its always-anticipated annual update on new products that will be released this fall. Whether you’re traveling closer to home or abroad, the news includes details on the latest software upgrade of iOS 15, which promises to deliver some key features to make the journey smoother no matter where in the world you may find yourself. Get ready for your next download with these five exciting iOS features to look forward to as originally reported by The Points Guy.

1. Digital ID for Airport Security

No more searching through your bag to find your ID at the airport. Starting later this year, instantly verify and store your personal ID card on your iPhone’s digital wallet by taking a simple snap of your state ID or driver’s license with the phone’s built-in camera.

2. Digital Hotel Keys

Will you need an actual physical wallet after this software update? Apple doesn’t think so. The tech company is partnering with Hyatt to offer guests the convenient option to bypass the check-in process at reception entirely by automatically loading a digital room key to your iPhone’s wallet on the day of arrival upon your personal authentication. Plans are also in the mix to provide digital keys for homes, garage doors and corporate security.

3. 3D Maps

With iOS 15, users will be able to zoom into buildings and landmarks, like the the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, to view them in 3D for easier navigation. The new city experience will also be available in Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Philadelphia, London and Washington, D.C. by the end of the year.

4. Live Text

It’s often cumbersome to transfer text-based information from a picture by memory to a text or email. Let’s say you want to quickly look up the name of a store or restaurant. Now with Apple live text, all you have to do is tap on the text in question within the photo, which will then automatically digitize the copy so you can browse or share further.

5. Immediate Translation

No need to copy and paste text that you’d like to translate into a separate translation app. Highlight any text and it can be translated at the single touch of a button with Apple’s new system-wide translation.
