Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix Unveils Multimillion-Dollar Guestroom Renovation

Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has announced an exciting new chapter for the downtown Phoenix destination. The hotel is launching a multimillion-dollar renovation project that will transform all 242 guestrooms, including 27 suites, with work officially starting in late June. The comprehensive redesign is expected to be completed by September 2025.

The reimagined rooms will bring a fresh, contemporary take on Southwestern luxury, drawing on the natural beauty of the desert while offering a serene and stylish retreat for travelers. Aiming to strike a balance between modern sophistication and residential warmth, the new design will infuse the hotel with refreshed energy and a distinct Phoenix identity.

“Our focus with these renovations is to create an enhanced guest experience by combining timeless luxury and modern comfort along with some unexpected surprises,” General Manager Justin Simpson said. “This transformation goes beyond the hotel rooms by reflecting the energy of the property and providing guests an expansion of the urban retreat experience they’ve come to expect and love.”

The renovation includes the hotel’s guest floor common areas, such as hallways and elevator banks. Guests can anticipate a refined ambiance created in partnership with Los Angeles-based Beleco Design, which is known for blending artistic flair with hospitality-forward functionality.

“We are honored to be the design partner for the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix room renovation,” Principal Designer Cristian Schnyder said. “We believe that every space tells a story – and we are thrilled to bring in a blend of timeless aesthetics with modern functionality to every room. The vision thoughtfully ties in the Arizona desert aesthetic with a focus on textures and finishes to offer guests an environment that feels visually cool and calming as a balance to the intense heat of a summer day.”

Key design elements include abstract patterns inspired by hand-woven textiles, earthy clay materials reminiscent of local pottery, and a warm terracotta color palette evocative of oxidized steel in urban architecture. Each room will feature upgraded bathrooms, curated artwork, and refined furnishings. Premier suites will include enhanced minibars spotlighting artisan products, offering another connection to Phoenix.

Guests can continue to enjoy the hotel’s amenities throughout the renovation. Beloved features such as Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails, the lively Eden Bar, and the rooftop pool with panoramic views of the South Mountains will remain fully operational. Renovations will proceed by floor, beginning with the hotel’s top-floor suites, allowing the hotel to remain open without disruption.

“It is our continued goal to elevate the hospitality experience in Phoenix,” Simpson said, “and we look forward to showcasing a truly bespoke personal guest stay in a redefined sanctuary in downtown Phoenix.”

As the renovation unfolds, Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix will continue to offer its signature experiences and curated guest programming. For more, visit hotelpalomar-phoenix.com.
