Situated in the heart of downtown La Jolla, George’s at the Cove is a coastal summer escape that offers delicious coastal cuisine and sweeping views from its rooftop Ocean Terrace. Led by former Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chef honoree Partner and Chef Trey Foshee, this destination diner celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024.
“Our location inspires us,” Foshee said. “We use San Diego products as much as possible. We believe that San Diego’s food culture is deeply rooted in the lifestyle, characterized by healthy outdoor activities and a strong connection to the beach. The view from the restaurant captures this, and our menu features items that you might want when dining and looking out over the cove.”
As the first San Diego restaurant to be inducted into the Nation’s Restaurant News Fine Dining Hall of Fame, George’s at the Cove features an extensive menu of seafood. Highlights include rockfish tacos, lobster roll, swordfish, seared rare yellowtail, and prime flatiron steak.
“We have ocean views from all three levels of the restaurant, including our private events space on the lower level,” Foshee said. “We also just completed a remodel of Level2, our mid-level bar and restaurant, and we will be doing a remodel of the Ocean Terrace later this year.”
Guests can enjoy summer happy hour by the sea, while spotting seals and sea lions in the water and on the rocks below, Monday to Friday from 2:30 to 4 p.m., with 50 percent off all beer and wines by the glass.
New this summer is the snack menu, available only at the bar areas of Ocean Terrace and Level 2. The menu includes borquarones, grilled cheese, La Brújula tinned sardines, La Brújula tinned mussels and potato chips. Perfect for a romantic dinner, a lively night out, or a laid-back lunch, George’s at the Cove is an iconic San Diego gem. For more information, visit georgesatthecove.com.
