Title: Medical Technologist. There’s something magical about helping people and knowing that something you discovered or developed makes a difference in people’s lives.

Married/Single: Married

Kids: All of my children (Lexy and Peyton) have four legs and a tail.

City you live in: Gilbert

A typical day in my life includes… My day consists of acupuncture, massage, yoga, meditation, and copious quantities of H20. I believe in integrative medicine and anything that quiets the mind, soothes the body, and restores the spirit.

I was born… umm in the hospital, I hope lol. Houston.

My favorite thing about Arizona…  I love the fact that the Sonoran Desert is practically outside my backyard. A short drive is all it takes to escape to “the wilderness “—enough time for me to press pause and breathe.

I’m listening to… SZA, Jhene Aiko, Luke James, and Janelle Monae. R&B, in my opinion, is a genre that embodies so much. As a hopeless romantic, I crave to hear feel-good music that touches my soul and inspires positivity in my life.

My family… My family is the foundation for my strength and perseverance. There’s something freeing about living for someone else other than yourself.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Villanelle from Killing Eve. She’s a total badass (omg, can we say ass online, lol). Funny, intelligent, unapologetic, and has a killer sense of style.

One thing I cannot live without… Patience and humility. One of the things that chronic illness has taught me is how little you really have control over.

When I was younger, I wanted to be… taller. Being three feet tall in a ginormous world is quite terrifying.

I’m inspired by… My dogs. Just like me, Peyton has been plagued with chronic illness since she was a pup and handled it like a rockstar. Lexy is a simple soul- she loves life and lives for belly rubs and floor crumbs.

The one person who motivates me is… my husband. He’s the most selfless, giving, and nurturing soul I’ve ever known.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

The perfect day would be… totally unplugged—no cell phones nor laptops and having brunch with my loves @OliveandIvy.

My first job was… OMG I am too embarrassed to say. I worked at the mall as a pastry consultant (lol), rolling pretzel dough at a food counter.

My favorite escape… L’Auberge de Sedona. It is tucked away in Oakcreek and has the most majestic views of Red Rock.

My life… is pretty amazing. I’d do it all over again if given a chance – the good, the bad. And even the ugly.

I’m currently working on… Clinical studies in genomic sequencing/individualized medicine. I hope to improve the understanding of how diseases develop and progress.

Always… hold onto the ones you love. Life doesn’t wait for you just because you are not ready for them.

Never… follow the 5-second rule. I am a total germaphobe.

Favorite Quote… “Stranger, if you were passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?” ― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass.

We need to realize that sometimes the most minor, kindest move is monumental to another soul.

Biggest Dream… My biggest, epic dream is to start a family with my husband – family vacations on a tropical island, weekend camping excursions, and PTA meetings and soccer games during the week.

My Pet Peeve(s)… Restaurants that don’t offer substitutions. I am allergic to dairy and shellfish.

More About Menith Sonhthipanya:
As a medical technologist, I supported a multibillion-dollar revenue stream focused on med-tech across surgical, oncology, and other specialties. A key challenge in this role has been the necessity of shifting rapidly between operating on a strategic level and a deeply tactical one. However, after a scary diagnosis, my main priorities are now getting healthy, spending more time with my family, and advocate for those loved ones that we have lost.
