A typical day in my life includes…  Wake up before the sun, work out, and engage in my morning routine (journal, read, meditate.) I then hang with the pups and the hubs, I ALWAYS eat breakfast,  then depending on the day begin client check-ins, follow-ups, and client calls via Zoom.  Then lunch.  My afternoons include more client calls and/or networking meetings. I practice what I preach and have my own Coach (thank you Olenka) and make sure I keep my head on straight. Around 6pm II “hard-stop” work mode.  Evenings include dinner with the Hubs and some sort of true crime show.  I am in bed by 8:30 and out by 9PM.

I was born… in Los Angeles, CA

My favorite thing about Arizona… I love that I can drive down the 51 freeway and see the most beautiful mountain ranges on either side of me.  Give me a cotton candy sunset and I am in Heaven.

I’m listening to… winning by Tim S. Grover.

My family… Includes the most amazing and resilient parents, hardworking and dependable siblings, more nieces and nephews that I can count, My Husband, my longtime group of besties, and my dogs Brooklyn and Harlem. Oh and my “adult children” aka daughters aka mentees who all call me “Momma”

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Maya Angelou. I have read and listened to her speak for many years and her knowledge, grace, and way with words always find a way to work through me.

One thing I cannot live without… Weird but vaseline for my lips.  I have the MOST sensitive lips and I lose my mind if I don’t have my little vaseline with me.

When I was younger, I wanted to be… a professional dancer and/or on Broadway.

I’m inspired by… my Father who is blind.  He has never allowed this to hinder him nor has he allowed it to affect his goals in his life.  I cannot say one without the other, as my Mother was always there by his side as his “eyes” to the world and to her children.

Lastly,  I am always inspired by clients who find their way through WHATEVER it is they are going through and find their life on the other end.

The one person who motivates me is… me.  I motivate myself. If I want to do something, I do it.  I don’t allow circumstances or situations to hinder me.  There is not one person in this world who can motivate more than I motivate myself.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be… equality for all.

The perfect day would be… Having zero plans and then ending up on some sort of crazy adventure with the people I love.  It would involve great music, amazing food and drinks,  big belly laughs, and ridiculous memories.  Lucky for me,  this happens often.

My first job was… I have honestly been hustling since I was in grade school either cutting neighbors’ grass,  helping my friend’s parents Mexican food restaurant, or figuring out how to earn money around the house.  But technically my first legit-paying job was Baskin Robbins.

My favorite escape… is it bad if my favorite escape is a good true-crime podcast (My Favorite Murder) or Dateline?

My life… is exactly where I want it to be because I decided to put in the emotional and spiritual work to make it this way.

I’m currently working on… my second edition of Don’t Hold Their Poop as well as the children’s illustrated version,  “Don’t Hold Their Boogies.”

Always… believe in the good.  In people, outcomes, and yourself.

Never… stop trying.  Even if you don’t think you can,  you should always try.

Favorite Quote… “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” -Maya Angelou

Biggest Dream…  To use my creativity, training, and education to help as many people as I can all over the world.

My Pet Peeve(s)… saying “I’m sorry” for existing,  leaving food on plates and putting them in the sink,  being rude to a food server, not allowing the row in front of you to exit the plane before you, not cleaning or re-racking your weights in the gym, and giving up.

Lastly,  as a NASM Certified Personal trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach,  she helps men and women all over the world achieve their health and fitness goals while also restructuring their negative body image and eating patterns. C.J’s current focus is organizing mother and daughter body-image workshops to help navigate the world of unrealistic body image, eating, and training.

C.J.’s type of therapy and coaching is off the cuff and more down to earth than most. She has been described as  “Constructively blunt with a side of sweet empowerment.” and wants to create a coaching environment that is relatable and REAL.

C.J.’s realness has since been translated into her first book,  “Don’t Hold Their Poop, A Small Book about Cleaning Up Life’s BIG Messes.”  DHTP is a short, self-help comedy where the reader learns to recognize when another person is emotionally projecting onto them.  Through silly but insightful activities as well as “pun” intended tools, the readers learn to “FLUSH” the poo away and set appropriate boundaries.  C.J. also helps the reader understand when they need to “gut check themselves before they wreck themselves” and they learn to recognize when they are being irresponsible with their emotions.

C.J.’s goal in her practices and publications are to use science, education, common sense, and training to help people create long term, sustainable change while staying true to themselves and while not taking the world too seriously.
