Title: Owner, YogaSix Gainey Village and YogaSix Scottsdale Shea

Married/Single:  Single.

Kids: Two sweet fur babies, Peter and Lucy, who are currently impatiently waiting for me to get up and feed them dinner. Clearly, they don’t understand the importance of work and deadlines.

City you live in: Scottsdale, Arizona

A typical day in my life includes…

getting up at around 5 a.m. when my two cats wake me up for their breakfast; my ginger babies have somewhat forced me into becoming an early riser. Next, I’ll take a look at what I have going on for the day: my to-do list, meetings, work, social events, etc. At 7 a.m., I’ll take a Y6 Sculpt, Y6 Power or Y6 Hot class. After I’ve prepared and centered myself for the day, I’m ready to take on all that I have planned. This usually consists of time spent in the studio with our Y6 members and my incredible team or time spent at my home office. Weekends are spent hiking, exercising, taking Y6 yoga classes, and enjoying all of the restaurants and events that Scottsdale has to offer.

I was born…

in Boise, Idaho – Go Broncos & the Blue Turf!

My favorite thing about Arizona…

is the diversity in the climate and terrain! I’m an avid skier, so I absolutely love that in the winter months I can drive a couple of hours to Snow Bowl. Sedona is just a couple of hours away as well, which is absolutely breathtaking. I love all the cacti, palm and fruit trees. It’s so incredible how many unique climates exist within such close proximity to each other.

I’m listening to…

Coldplay, Whitney Houston, Florence and the Machine, Billie Eilish… something for every mood.

My family…

means the world to me, I’m so lucky Boise is just a quick flight away.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Sara Blakely, Spanx inventor. I’m so in awe with her determination and creativity. She knew what the world was missing, set her mind to it, and made it happen. Then she turned Spanx from basic hose and shapewear to an empire. She’s an entrepreneur I admire.

One thing I cannot live without…

good friends. I’ve been lucky to have met some pretty incredible people. Even though I might not live near some of these friends anymore, whenever we get together, or catch up over the phone, we’re able to pick back up where we left off. I’m pretty blessed.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

an actress, I was in a number of plays when I was growing up, but I took a few acting classes after college and quickly discovered it was not for me. Let’s just say crying on command was not my strong suit.

I’m inspired by…

all successful entrepreneurs, working moms and individuals that grind every single day, searching for success even after failure. Anyone who keeps trying time and time again, putting their heart and soul into what they’re doing is the kind of person I want to surround myself with. People who don’t give up on their dreams and believe in what they’re doing are who remind me that what I’m trying to accomplish is possible, if I just keep on trying and pushing every single day. My parents instilled a great work ethic in me; I don’t know any other way.

The one person who motivates me is…

my dad has always been the person that’s motivated me to do the best I can. He’s always worked so hard to provide for our family and he has so much patience and love for my mom. He always has my back and offers feedback and advice, even when it’s tough to hear. We have similar personalities and we’ll often bump heads, but at the end of the day, I just want to make both him and my mom proud. They’re my biggest supporters.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

hatred. There’s no room for it. We all have our differences, and that’s fine, but there’s no reason to hate one another because of different views, beliefs, etc. We need all the love we can get; this life is too short for hate.

The perfect day would be…

spent with loved ones. We would start the day with a great workout, followed by a relaxing spa treatment. Next, we could grab a light lunch somewhere cute and spend a relaxing afternoon by the water, in the sunshine. Then we would finish the evening with a great glass of wine or Mexican food and margaritas, all while being completely unplugged and without feeling any guilt for not getting other things done.

 My first job was…

Limited Too, which I believe is now called Justice. I absolutely loved that job. I think I called every single out if week at the beginning of summer to find they had seen my application. I ended up working there for a couple of years and I loved having my own money… even with the $5 minimum wage. I eventually ended up leaving because my school schedule got too packed. That, and the fact that the ‘panty tower’ was an absolute nightmare to reorganize.

My favorite escape…

YogaSix. (I know, right?) But really, I love being in the studio. It’s so clean and the team is so friendly and great. With all the stress and tasks that I need to get done throughout the day, I love that I can just slip off my shoes and walk into the studio to take my mind off things. When I’m on my mat, I’m not thinking about all the other things I need to get done. I love the unique mood lighting and the modern music selection. After I’m done, even if I’ve had a stressful day, I feel calm and peaceful. I absolutely love it.

My life…

is not what I expected, but perfect in every way. Growing up in a family-oriented, small town, I expected to be married with a few kids, living in Boise, in a house with a picket fence… never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d be living in Arizona, opening yoga studios and considered a trendsetter. But I couldn’t be more pleased with the way it’s turned out so far. I’m bringing a good experience to the people; I’m not peddling any harmful products or carcinogens. I take everything in stride and always aim to find the positive in all situations, as tough as that can be at times. I love where I live, and I love what I do. I’m living in the present, but I’m excited for what’s coming next in my journey.

I’m currently working on…

opening YogaSix studios two through five in Arizona. Keep your eyes open for studios that will be opening in your neighborhood!

Always…

live passionately and put your heart and soul into everything that you do.

Never…

doubt yourself.

Favorite Quote…

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

 Biggest Dream…

As cliché as it may sound, my biggest dream is to be content at the end of my life. I have so many goals, such as creating x amount of jobs, building a home, volunteering in Third World countries, growing my business… but at the end of the day, I’m always searching for the ‘what’s next?’ At the end of my life, I want to be happy and content with what I’ve accomplished, and how my life has evolved.

 My Pet Peeve(s)…

people who are rude, littering, table chairs that don’t get pushed in.
