Foundress Fridays: Nikki Murphy, founder of Nikki Murphy Photography

Nikki Murphy is the founder of Nikki Murphy Photography where Murphy embraces her refined, at-ease style which allows her to capture meaningful memories for families, mothers, couples and more.

“I am a portrait and brand photographer. From capturing natural moments that mean the most to collaborating with brands looking to bring their vision to life, my love for photography comes from capturing glimpses into real life.

My goal is to allow people to shine just by being themselves. I aim to bring out the beauty of each image by providing a natural refinement that enhances the moment.”

AZF: What is your “life motto”?
NM: “The universe responds to the frequency of your thoughts; manifest positivity, attract positivity.”

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did yo urealize that it was the right path for you?
NM: “I manifested having my own business for as long as I can remember, and have always had my camera in my hand along the way. My entrepreneurial path lead me to where I am exactly when I needed it to. I have two incredible daughters who will always be my main focus, however as they started to transition from the baby to child stage in life I found myself craving a creative outlet outside of the home. The encouragement of my mentors, family and friends helped me to just go for it and see what I could create.”

AZF: How do you feel best supported?
NM: “I feel so blessed to have an incredible support system in my life. Between my family, my friends, and my mentors, I always have people in my life who share in the joy of my wins and my challenges, and cheer me on along the way. Being able to always come home to warm hugs, always have people to call when I need help, and have an abundance of people sending good vibes my way fills my cup and gives me the support I need.”

AZF: What motivates you to keep going admist the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
NM: “The simple joy of photography itself. Being able to create timeless memories for families, work with brands to bring their visions to life, and overall elicit a feeling through a photo makes all the challenges worth it.”

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
NM: “I love an easy going Saturday morning. Waking up and snuggling with my family, grabbing a tea at LGO, heading to the farmers market, and then hanging out outside.”

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
NM: “Manifest, and just go for it. If you have a passion, you’ll never regret taking that energy and making it your own. Ask questions, learn as you go, support those around you who are doing the same as you, surround yourself with likeminded people, and trust your instincts. You never know where your dreams will take you if you don’t give yourself a shot.”
