Foundress Fridays: Jennifer Beget, Owner and Lead Designer for J Beget Designs

Jennifer Beget, owner and lead designer for J Beget Designs, describes her work as “a fully integrated interior design firm in Scottsdale, AZ. We are experts at conquering different design styles that perfectly suit our clients aesthetic. We are not a rinse and repeat interior design firm. We love to challenge our design ideas for each client we work with, residential and commercial.”

AZF: What is your “life motto”?
JB: “Oh boy, let me think, what am I passionate about…I got it! No excuses! Things happen, mistakes are made but excuses drive me absolutely crazy. I’m a no nonsense kinda gal, and owning up, providing a solution and moving forward is the best way to keep projects and relationships moving in the right direction.”

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path for you?
JB: “Honestly, my loved ones saw it in me before I did, mainly my husband, he saw my drive along with my mentor. They both said don’t you dare go work for anyone else, start your own interior design firm! I opened in 2018. I had created an LLC while in interior design school years prior, so in a way it was always meant to be I guess!”

AZF: How do you feel best supported?
JB: “Acts of service! Okay, so that’s my love language but it’s the same for my business. I didn’t realize this until recently by surrounding myself with the right people who also want to serve others is what truly adds to my success.”

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?
JB: “I love challenging myself. Challenging myself and always learning actually keeps me up at night, but I don’t know how to be any other way. I am not the person who can keep doing the same thing over and over.”

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.
JB: “Wake up early, have coffee with my husband, work out at Jeremy Scott Fitness, (maybe pop over to Chin Up for a vegan donut…my fav!) come home, walk my dogs, then head out for a round of golf. That’s a pretty common Saturday morning for me and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?
JB: “Even if you don’t have all the answers, just do it, take one step at a time, we are all “starting out” every single day. We all face new challenges regardless of how long we’ve been doing something, its important to remember that mistakes can become valuable experiences. If you don’t at least try then you will live a life of “what if,” and that’s no life to live.”

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?
JB: “Calling the shots! Wait isn’t that why everyone runs their own business? All joking aside, I love working my tail off, learning new things, meeting and working with new people within my industry. I feel all of those things can only happen best by running my own interior design studio.”
