A typical day in my life includes…

I start out my day with small breakfast and my green tea. I drop off my partner at work, he goes in an hour earlier. I usually take a walk or run before going to my job. My partner and I have full time jobs at the UofA Parking and transportation Department working at the garages. I sometimes bring in my designs to work because I don’t always have time to work on them so any chance I get I will work on them!

I was born…

in Tucson, AZ.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the fact that I don’t have to shovel snow during the winter time. And how beautiful the Sonoran desert is during monsoon season.

I’m listening to…

“Goodbye” by Feder. I have it on replay right now. It is the song I’m using on the runway for Tucson Fashion Week.

My family…

is very traditional and now accepting of my role in fashion and my sexuality. I was emancipated at age 15 because my family wasn’t accepting at the time. I was homeless and had to support myself through high school. I almost didn’t walk on my graduation because I couldn’t afford my cap and gown. Luckily, Youth on their Own was able to help me and I also won a Mastery of Arts scholarship that helped me get into the Art Institute of Tucson.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

as long as there is food involved I could care less who I have dinner with! But if it was a night of dancing and clubbing, I’d say Marc Jacobs. He has amazing energy and I really admire him and I think he would be a fun date.

One thing I cannot live without…

my green tea in the morning. It really relaxes my mind and calms me down. My head is constantly going and sometimes I have trouble shutting my mind off. Not only is green tea healthy but it really is a great stress reliever.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

an archeologist. I’ve always been intrigued with the old world. Growing up, my dad would rarely buy us toys or let us watch T.V. He always had a work mind and wanted to instill that in us as well. The first movie I watched in theaters was Jurassic Park. After watching it I was obsessed with dinosaurs. I bought all the toys and wanted to know more about this ancient world. I then learned of other civilizations and wanted to learn more about that as well.

I’m inspired by…

my emotions. I find things that excite me in the moment of boredom. I’m easily distracted too. I tend to always entertain myself in many ways. Or when I’m furious I over think things. But when I’m angry or furious about something I work it out, draw like a maniac until I have used up all my negative energy. That is usually when I create my favorite designs.

The one person who motivates me is…

myself. I’ve been on my own ever since I was a teen and I’ve learned that you have to become your own motivator. No one will be there for you every second. I feel being on my own has made me sufficient and I feel fulfilled in my life. The challenge I had was worthwhile.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

free college education around the world. I know what it is like to work and go to school to pay for everything you need like books and stuff. I think education is priceless and there shouldn’t be a value on education. Everyone has the right to learn. However, I also think if you go to school and don’t take it seriously and fail, then you should have to pay. I don’t think its right when people abuse education because not everyone has that opportunity.

The perfect day would be…

a rainy day with all the windows wide open and I just sit back and sketch on my pad.

My first job was…

Wal-Mart. I was a cashier and was trying to save up for a cell phone.

My favorite escape…

is Sabino Canyon. I like going at night and laying by the river and staring at the sky. The view is amazing up there and I just really love the feeling of being up there.

My life…

is a roller coaster that seemingly has no ending. It has ups and downs and twists and turns but it’s a ride I know I will always remember. It’s a learning process and I’m always looking forward to what’s next.

I’m currently working on…

my line for Tucson Fashion Week. I’m also working on a promo video featuring myself and two other designers I went to the Art Institute with.

Always…

work hard. It will pay off at some point!

Never…

give up. Giving up is too easy.

Favorite Quote…

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” Rachael Zoe

Biggest Dream…

to open my own boutique/studio where I can work on my stuff.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

people who can’t make up their minds.
