Title: Founder/CEO of NipLips™

Married/Single: Single

Kids: 2

City you live in: Tucson

A typical day in my life includes…

journaling, meditating, exercise, kiddo-activities, and running a med-tech consulting business as well as NipLips™.

I was born…

to travel, explore, and enjoy life!

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the sunsets and amazing Mexican food.

I’m listening to…

“Only Human” by the Jonas Brothers.

My family…

is my life. We are scattered all over the US but remain close and love to spend vacation time together.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

my aunt Susan.  She passed away from breast cancer when I was 15 and was more like a mom.  She had one of the first bone marrow transplants at Dana Farber, before they realized how immune-comprised people would be coming out of that treatment. She left Boston, immediately came to visit us in Michigan, and then returned to Cleveland where she taught adult education classes all while taking care of my two young cousins (2 and 8 at the time). She died 6 weeks after leaving the hospital from complications due to pneumonia, not cancer. In many ways, she has inspired my med-tech career as well as NipLips™. To honor her and every breast cancer fighter/survivor, we give a free tube of lipstick.  Our formulations are clean because many of the synthetic chemicals used in cosmetics can contribute to causing cancer.

One thing I cannot live without…

coffee! I decided to do a three week cleanse a few years back, and it said no coffee. I thought those 3 weeks would never end!

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a marine biologist.

I’m inspired by…

Melody Beattie.  She is an author of many spiritual/inspirational books.  I read a daily excerpt from “Journey to the Heart” every morning after journaling. It helps me find my center.

The one person who motivates me is…

there are so many so it’s hard to pick just one.  That said, I love Jane Goodall.  She is 85 years old and still traveling the globe educating on conservation and improving life for people, animals, and the environment. I read she still loves to drink a martini. Me too!  I would love to have a drink with her.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

inspiring people to embrace diversity.  I have been fortunate to have worked on and led global teams, traveled around the world, experienced many cultures, and met some incredible people. It’s amazing how at our core, humans are the same everywhere.  We eat, sleep, work, play, etc.  but the way we do those things can be so different.  For example, when children lose a tooth in the U.S., they put it under their pillow and when they wake up the Tooth Fairy has left money under their pillow.  In Mayan cultures, if you lose a top tooth, you place it on the roof and pray to the Mayan Gods to send a new one.  For a bottom tooth, you would bury it in the earth and again, say a prayer for a new one.  Fascinating! I think if everyone took the time to understand and appreciate our differences, there would be a lot less conflict in the world.

The perfect day would be…

coffee, journaling, breakfast with my kiddos, a water adventure (boating, snorkeling, diving), an incredible dinner with fresh seafood and wine, and an evening walk on the beach at sunset.

My first job was…

in high school working at Fulton Street Pharmacy in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  I worked behind the counter as a cashier and eventually helped in the pharmacy counting pills and labeling prescriptions.

My favorite escape…

the beach, SCUBA diving, boating and all things water-related!

My life…

has been an adventure.

I’m currently working on…

launching NipLips™ and trying to figure out how to get my son off of his devices!

Always…

be yourself.

Never…

take anything for granted.

Favorite Quote…

“When choosing between two evils I always like to try the one I’ve never tried before.”- Mae West

Biggest Dream…

cruise around the world on a boat.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

weak coffee, pretentiousness, stinky feet, and mean people.
