It’s that time of year… when we spring clean our lives! Yes, you can do the requisite juice cleanse, but that’s just the tip of the melting iceberg. For more healthy ways to ring in Spring, I went to Eliza Collins (aka the clean green girl). 5 ways we can stay clean and green by Eliza Collins
Spring is quickly approaching! Birds are chirping, the sun is shining, flowers are blooming… Ok, so not much has changed in terms of weather here in Arizona. We’re lucky enough to experience those things year round. But just because the weather goes from hot to hotter doesn’t mean we can’t prepare ourselves for the season ahead. I use Spring as an excuse to eat healthy foods, get outside more and give my usual fitness routine a bit of sprucing up – and anyone can do the same. Here are 5 ways we can stay clean and green for spring this year!

1. Mix up your workout – Exercise should never be boring! Try checking out different studios or training with friends. I’ll do yoga on a Thursday and then try a CrossFit class on a Friday to challenge my body and mind. Or book a buddy for a partner workout and try something new together. You’ll stay interested and your body will see great results!

2. Get outside and play like a kid – Being outside can boost your mood and get you some health-boosting vitamin D! So why not go for a hike, run with the dog, play Frisbee or join a run club? I love hiking Camelback this time of year. It’s the perfect way to get a great workout while enjoying the beautiful Arizona landscape.

3. Eat in-season foods – I always head out to the Old Town farmers market on Saturday mornings to pickup a batch of local produce. They have a great selection! It’s not only cheaper to buy local produce, it tastes way better too!

4. Take care of your skin – Taking care of your skin is crazy important, especially in Arizona where there’s no escape from the hot blazing sun. When heading outside, throw on a fashionable hat and some SPF. I wear face moisturizer with SPF 15 everyday so I can keep my skin clear and protected.

5. Stay hydrated – We naturally lose water when we sweat, so I try to replenish with 64 ounces of H2O a day. Also, investing in a stainless steel water bottle will keep your water colder for longer, so when you’re out running errands you’ll stay hydrated and feeling good.
