Get Over It!

Having a “Bad” Day?  Maybe, this isn’t your “Best” week, month, and year. No Matter what “down” time you’re having, YOU do have the power to turn it around. I know something’s are easier to overcome than others, but my hope is after reading this blog you will feel better equipped to move on.

  • Watch Your Eating. If you know you typically turn to a “poor” food or drink choice after a stressful day, don’t have it easily accessible. You can also make sure you have healthy snacks available to help fight the cravings.
  • Have your Gym Bag Packed. I also suggest you have it visible so you’re more apt to remember to go to the gym right after work. Sometimes if it’s packed and in your trunk, it’s “out of sight and out of mind”, so have it on your car seat or in the front seat. This way it’s the 1st thing you see when you get back in your car. If you know your day may be filled with more stress than normal and you won’t go to the gym after, get in before you start your day. Not only will this assure you get your exercise in, but it will release serotonin and dopamine for the rest of your day.
  • Shift Your-Self Talk. Instead of saying “I can’t get out of this bad mood”, give yourself 5-10 minutes to re-boot. In this break, practice breathing, move a little or what I personally like to do is say out loud all the things I am grateful for or listen to a motivational podcast. If you’re in the mindset that this is the “Worst” day ever, then focus on gratitude and whatever has gone well that day. You woke up, you had food to eat, a roof over your head, etc.…

Again, I know getting out of a “funk” can be difficult at times, but the better prepared you are, and by taking a “break” you can turn things around. After all, a happier person and a healthier person make the world a better place, so let’s focus on being both.
