Scottsdale’s hottest new entertainment venue Livewire will host the winner of “The Voice” season seven, Craig Wayne Boyd, on Saturday, January 24, 2015. Boyd was the sole surviving member of Team Blake Shelton on the hit NBC show. His single “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” debut at No. 1 on the country music charts less than two weeks after winning, making it the second track in history to debut at No. 1. The song also took the No. 2 position on the all-genre iTunes single sales chart.
The Texas native moved from his hometown to begin his music career in Nashville, Tenn. He spent the better part of a decade touring the country and performing over 1,000 shows opening for country acts Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Brantley Gilbert. In 2013 Boyd released an album “I Ain’t No Quitter” with the title track racking up over 36 thousand views on YouTube.
According to Coach Blake Shelton, “There has never been a more deserving person to hold that trophy than Craig Wayne Boyd as far as paying dues.” Boyd is now signed to Nashville’s Dot Records, with an album due out in 2015. Details on the album have not been released yet, apart from its classic country direction. He will begin his 2015 tour on Jan. 3.
