Twisted Trailz Excursions, LLC offers motorcycle tour packages, lasting from three to seven days, which tour a variety of destinations like Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado.

This Phoenix-based business was started in 2008 by Ron Booth who wanted to make a living off of something he was passionate about. Despite the spiraling economy during its startup, Twisted Trailz has been touring the Southwest ever since and is currently in its fifth tour season, which lasts from February to November.

Booth says that people like his tours because of the “no brain” aspect—you don’t have to know where you’re going, plan where you’re staying or do anything but follow the taillights and enjoy the ride.

“We promote ourselves as being able to give people on a motorcycle an experience that they would never see or get in a car on the freeway,” he says.

Booth ensures this by taking the best scenic and twisty riding roads possible (avoiding the freeways at all costs), only staying in lodging that adds to the Southwest experience (no Motel 6 in his schedule) and by taking their time each day (riders only travel 200 miles or so a day).

Out of five tours, the two most popular are “Awesome Arizona!” and “Canyons & National Parks.” “Awesome Arizona!” lasts seven days and is a 1,200-mile loop of the state that takes you through Jerome, Sedona, historic Route 66, the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, the White Mountains, Tombstone and more.

Booth’s personal favorite, “Canyons & National Parks,” lasts six days and almost 1,200 miles. This tour takes you to both rims of Jerome, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, Lake Powell and Horseshoe Bend.

During the tour, Booth says “taking them up to the South rim and seeing their eyes light up the first time they view the Grand Canyon makes you feel like Santa Claus because it is something they obviously will never forget.”

With many tours to choose from and possibly more on the way, your hardest decision will be which to adventure to take. To learn more about the different tours, visit www.twistedtrailz.com.
