The Junior League of Phoenix hosted the seventh annual Valley Impact Social on Oct. 24 at the JW Marriott Camelback Resort Inn & Spa. As one of JLP’s signature fundraisers, the Valley Impact Social brings together prominent Valley figures to support the mission of JLP and raise awareness of its focus area, "Building a Healthy Arizona." The event raised more than $38,000, which will benefit the Junior League of Phoenix’s community programs and leadership training programs. The JLP Valley Impact Awards recognize outstanding leaders who have exhibited a strong commitment to the betterment of the Phoenix community. Darlene Newsom, CEO of UMOM New Day Centers, was recognized with the 2015 Valley Impact Award and Christina Spicer, senior associate of fund development for Girl Scouts of Arizona Cactus Pine Council, was recognized with the 2015 Valley Impact Futures Award. The Sustainer of the Year award is presented annually to recognize a longtime League member for outstanding achievement in the area of community service and contribution to JLP. Sustaining Member Melinda Gulick was honored with the 2015 award during the Valley Impact Social.
