Description

North Scottsdale United Methodist Church extends a warm invitation to the community to their inspirational Good Friday Tenebrae service, titled "Behold the Darkness!", scheduled for Friday, March 29th at 7:00pm. It is free and open to the public. This profound worship experience is poised to elevate the Lenten journey with a harmonious blend of classic passion texts and fresh melodies, positioning it as the focal point of Holy Week observances.

A Tenebrae service is characterized by its symbolism of encroaching shadows and mirroring the somber atmosphere of the Crucifixion. Candles are gradually extinguished until only a single flickering light remains, creating an atmosphere of reflection and introspection. The service traditionally includes reading of Biblical passages, enhancing the emotional depth of the experience.

Prepare to be captivated by the enchanting musical portion of this Good Friday service influenced by the Renaissance and Baroque eras.  The performance will feature the Chancel Choir, a full orchestra, and the masterful pianist Mutsumi Mori, under the direction of Darin Read. Rev. Christopher Wurpts' heartfelt narrative will enrich reflections, ensuring an unforgettable service of reverence and spiritual depth.

The entire community is cordially invited to this FREE masterful performance on Friday, March 29th at 7:00pm. Come, let this production guide the community through the sacred Lenten season of reflection and renewal.
