Desert Hills Community School of Music (DHCSM) is excited to invite brass, woodwind and percussion players to join its new Community Band ensemble. Open to musicians age 16 through adults of all ages (or by audition for younger players), Community Band will rehearse every other Sunday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. starting January 21 and culminating with a concert on March 17. All rehearsals and the final performance will be held in the main sanctuary of Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 34605 N. Tom Darlington Rd., Scottsdale, Ariz. 85266.

The DHCSM Community Band is a wonderful opportunity for participants to grow their musical skills and experience the joy of making music with others, whether it’s been a few days or a few decades since they last picked up their instrument. There is a one-time $40 participation fee to join the band, with scholarships available.

Community Band will be led by Jeffrey Anthony, Director of Traditional Music at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church and a former band director. A versatile musician with an extensive performance history across the U.S. and internationally as a member of the Joseph Wytko Saxophone Quartet, Jeffrey has played in the pit orchestra for various musical productions, performing on the saxophone, clarinet and bass clarinet, flute and piccolo, oboe and piano. Jeffrey serves as soprano saxophonist with the Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet and directs the music school’s Saxophone Ensemble.
