AZ CADDIE AND LEADERSHIP ACADEMY PREPARES THE NEXT GENERATION TROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF

As part of the mission to provide local youths with the leadership training needed to become the best versions of themselves, serve their communities, and grow the number of local Evans Scholars, Arizona Caddie and Leadership Academy (AZCLA) is hosting an event with golfers and caddies teeing off together. Participants – including local Evans Scholars – representing generational and diverse support will make up the 12 player/caddie groups.

AZCLA aims to prepare the next generation of community leaders through the age-old, character-building tenets taught by the game of golf and caddying. Evans Scholarships are valued at $125,000 (includes four-year housing and tuition funding), and the graduation rate is 98 percent.

About AZ Caddie and Leadership Academy

Headquartered at Papago Golf Course, the AZ Caddie and Leadership Academy (AZCLA) is a 501(c)(3) community youth golf and character development program where young men and women aged 13 and older benefit by learning the art of caddying for golfers at no cost (optional gratuity) during off-school hours at partner clubs. Program requirements include caddying 30 rounds or “loops” per season, attending bi-weekly leadership training classes, volunteering 1-2 hours per month, and journaling about their personal growth and development. In addition to consideration for Evans Scholarships, academy students earn $50-per-bag educational grants, and scholarship opportunities are also available based upon academic excellence, caddie record, financial need and personal character. Brandon Rogers, PGA, who created the Desert Forest caddie program that already produced three Evans Scholars from Arizona, is the executive director of AZCAL.
