PHOENIX (March 24, 2023) — The Desert Horizon Police Precinct Bike Squad and the Phoenix Police Foundation, will be part of the annual Tour De Sunnyslope Community Bike Ride and Slope Fest on April 1^st at Palma Park located at 12^th Street and Dunlap.

The family event will include a police escorted bike ride through Sunnyslope and the 2023 Slope Fest directly after the bike ride. Slope Fest will have food trucks, bounce houses, entertainment, and is a great opportunity to bond with Phoenix Police officers.

“Our block watch and all Sunnyslope residents are grateful we have the elite Phoenix Police bike squad on our streets, parks, and communities,” said Jeff Tisot, President of East Sunnyslope Neighborhood Association and Block Watch. “We greatly appreciate all the men and women in the Phoenix police department and Desert Horizon precinct that work tirelessly in these hard times to keep our families and community safe.”

Pre-registration for the Tour De Sunnyslope starts at 7:45 am and the ride begins at 8:30 am. Slope Fest will begin at 8:30 a.m. following the completion of the bike ride. Those riding bikes will need to supply their own helmets and be sure to wear closed-toe shoes.

“We are grateful to support the Phoenix Police and the Sunnyslope community through this event,” said Phoenix Police Foundation president and CEO, Tim Thomas. “It is our goal to continue to foster strong relationships between communities and the officers that serve them.”

In 2022, the Phoenix Police Foundation donated eight bikes to the Sunnyslope bike squad. The bikes have increased engagement between civilians and law enforcement since the officers are more approachable outside a vehicle. Tour De Sunnyslope is a great opportunity to showcase the new bikes and provide opportunities for participants to interact with police officers serving their community.
