The Scottsdale Gallery Association presents its final Gold Palette ArtWalk of the year on Thursday, December 8 from 6:30  to 9 p.m. Held in conjunction with the City of Scottsdale’s monthlong Scottsdazzle holiday extravaganza, the ArtWalk invites art lovers to take in the sights, sounds and merriment of the season as they peruse participating galleries.

Held within the Scottsdale Arts District — stretching along Main St. from Scottsdale Rd. west to Goldwater Blvd. and on Marshall Way north of Indian School Rd. to Fifth Ave. — the holiday-themed Gold Palette ArtWalk features live strolling carolers who will fill the night air with classic holiday tunes, a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick and ample opportunities to find just the perfect gift art enthusiasts at the many galleries which will be feature special holiday-themed exhibits.

“Each year our Scottsdazzle-themed ArtWalk offers such a festive opportunity for guests to get into the holiday spirit,” says French Thompson, of the Scottsdale Gallery Association and owner of French Designer Jeweler located within the Scottsdale Arts District. “We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the holidays during this special holiday event.”

In addition to live musical performers by traditional strolling carolers and Santa’s guest appearance, attendees can enjoy treats and sips offered by individual participating art galleries as they “check off” their seasonal shopping lists. Participating galleries featuring artists’ receptions and their own holiday celebrations include:

Altamira Fine Art

From Dec. 6 through Jan. 1, 2023, both Altamira Fine Art presents a celebrity portrait show featuring David Frederick Riley as well as a special reception during the ArtWalk. 

Art One Gallery, Inc.

4130 N. Marshall Way

During the event, Art One Gallery will be featuring new works from its represented student and local Arizona artists. Guests are invited to enjoy cider and holiday treats as they peruse the gallery. 

The Legacy Gallery

7178 E. Main St. 

The gallery’s Holiday Small Works Show returns for the holidays, with the opening taking place during the Scottsdazzle Artwalk.

Mainview Gallery

7120 E. Main St.

Artist Dusty Kinman’s pieces, which will be highlighted during the ArtWalk, showcase his great love for the beauty of the Southwest deserts in the springtime — and his ability to capture this fleeting time on canvas. 

On the Edge Gallery

Guests can enjoy incredible fine art, sculpture and jewelry for the holidays including fused glass by Pat Isaacson, fiber clay by Susan Feder, kumihimo and woven bead jewelry by Shelly Taylor and much more. 

Gebert Contemporary Art Gallery

During the ArtWalk, the gallery is featuring “Betty Merken: Intervals and Illuminations,” a solo exhibition by the Seattle-based painter and printmaker. This show will remain on exhibit through Dec. 31.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West

3830 N. Marshall Way

The museum features “Landscapes of Extraction: The Art of Mining in the American West,” which highlights how mining transformed the landscape of West and the art that depicts it. From 6 to 7 p.m. Dr. Betsy Fahlman, professor of art history, will present her research in Landscapes of Extraction.

Wilde Meyer Gallery

4142 N. Marshall Way

Experience a dazzling exhibition of art by many of Wilde Meyer’s best artists including Sherri Belassen, Karen Bezuidenhout, Diane Barbee, Kari Rives, Ryan Hale and Andrea Peterson.

Each Gold Palette ArtWalk takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and presents the finest art in Old Town Scottsdale throughout 28 galleries and two museums — Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. From 7 to 9 p.m. during the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s weekly Thursday evening ArtWalks, presented in partnership with the City of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Arts District offers free trolley rides to various restaurants, museums, galleries and more throughout Old Town Scottsdale.
