Description

Phoenix, Ariz. – On Friday, September 16, 2022 from 7am to 8:30 am., St. Joseph the Worker (SJW) will host its 8th annual Celebration of the Worker Annual Community Breakfast. Free to attend, the event is the nonprofit’s most significant fundraiser of the year. SJW’s sole mission has been to help economically disadvantaged individuals become self-sufficient with the tools and support needed to secure quality employment. Through the event, the community has the opportunity to directly support this mission and the job seekers who rely on SJW.

In its FY 2022, SJW provided its services to more than 7,300 individuals and connected 5,399 individuals with employment. The organization serves clients from more than 50 zip codes across the Valley through its five locations and 90+ nonprofit, government and private partners.  SJW has helped transform the lives of more than 35,000 individuals since its establishment in 1988 and continues to dispense the resources needed to remove employment barriers and create success.

SJW COO/Acting CEO Dean Scheinert said, “The work we do at St. Joseph the Worker has a ripple effect – not just on our clients’ lives, but also their spouses, children and anyone else who depends on them. Our success as an organization depends on the generous support we receive from the community. And, by supporting our Celebration of the Worker event, you're helping individuals who are experiencing homelessness or financial hardship find a reliable job, get a new start and become economically self-sufficient.”

Jarrett Ransom, SJW’s Chief Philanthropy Officer and Rick DeBruhl, award-winning network television broadcaster and SJW board member, will co-host the event. This year, SJW will honor local partner Wilson Electric, who have given its time, talents and resources to further the SJW mission. SJW also will honor Snell & Wilmer Firm Chair Matt Feeney as its Distinguished Leader of the Year. Matt is one of the founding members of St. Joseph the Worker and continues to be very active in the organization, including organizing an annual benefit concert.

SJW connects people with jobs by partnering with local businesses that need a workforce, connecting clients directly to job openings for which they can be hired immediately. The nonprofit’s proven model provides resources including one-on-one support, interview clothing, transportation, resume assistance, and interview help.
