Carolyn Eynon Singers in collaboration with Pro Musica Arizona, present Misa Azteca, the passionate and uplifting musical celebration of tradition, culture, and song.
Join us for a passionate and uplifting performance of Misa Azteca! In an extraordinary musical celebration, Carolyn Eynon Singers and ProMusica Arizona, bring together eighty singers, soloists, and forty instrumentalists, plus an authentic pre-Columbian percussion ensemble, to create this staged, fully orchestrated concert piece.
Misa Azteca is a unique experience and sacred Aztec composition. Renowned contemporary composer Joseph Julian Gonzalez has combined Spanish and Latin songs of the Roman Catholic High Mass with verses from the Cantares Mexicanos, the largest collection of pre–Columbian Nahuatl (native Aztec language) songs and poems in recorded history.
