Description

HE BE KIND CREW® and Phoenix Police & Fire Departments are teaming up for three Camp Kindness interactive events for young families this summer in Christown Spectrum’s Center Court.  These free events on Saturday, July 10, August 21 and September 18 from 12-2 p.m. will include a chance to win a new boys’ and girls’ bike for ages 3-8.

The main attraction is high-energy entertainment from The Be Kind People Project, a national non-profit dedicated to providing students with comprehensive youth development programming that effectively uses a positive approach to social, emotional, and academic learning.

“Families will enjoy music, dance, outdoor games and entertainment, along with health, social and emotional learning training during these memorable events,” said Mark Johnson, National Manager of School Engagement. “Our goal is to encourage families to be respectful, be supportive, be helpful, be honest and be a friend.”

A longstanding summer tradition in the community will return during each Camp Kindness event: The Bike Rodeo will be held in partnership with The Phoenix Police and Fire Departments. This popular outreach event features a safe and easy bike path with cones. Bikes and helmets will be provided for children ages 3-8 to ride, learn how to brake and understand street signs. All bike path participants will be able to take their helmets home afterward.

During each Bike Rodeo, parents can enter to win one of two new bikes, for a boy and a girl, purchased from Walmart at Christown Spectrum.  Two bikes will be awarded at the end of each event.  Must be present to win.

While there, families can take and share selfies in front of the colorful Be Cool. Be Kind wall art near Center Court, starting in July. After a turbulent year, promoting kindness and practicing compassion are at the heart of the center’s community outreach.
